This is not the tile matching game Cookie Mania. This Cookie Mania was a UCSC graduate student's project.

Created to teach students about different types of internet cookies, security vulnerablities, and ethical buisness practices.

A programming friend told me about the project and it piqued my interest. Fixing up my resume, I headed over to the Baskin Engineering lab, met with the project lead, and began working as a UI/UX artist.

I drafted together some mock-ups for the in-game website. Mostly proposing potential navigation layouts and color blocking. It's a tricky thing making an illusionary website that fits the game's aesthetic without making an actual website.

While making the mock-ups, I created placeholder icons and symbols. Since they liked the designs, they were added to the game and more was made as needed.

The project was initially organized around in-person meetings but once the pandemic came around, we moved online and did our best to keep up our progress.

By the time summer rolled around, the last bit of work was submitted and the team lead's paper for the project was done.

I didn't have the chance to visit Stoke-on-Trent, UK for the 2020 Joint International Conference on Serious Games but the team seemed to have fun.

It is on my list of places to visit in the future. One day.
