During my freshman year of college, I applied to this team as an additional animator. I previously did a few years of color guard and dance in high school so my experience was pretty useful for them.

The character model was already rigged so I focused on concepting the movesets.

We heard about a sword fighting club on campus that used foam and wooden weapons. A few of us went down to Porter College's Field to join in on the fun.

After a few bouts of sparring, I hopped on top of the Squiggle and recorded some footage of the club members. The club president at the time was really good with a spear.

Heading back to my dorm, I made some rough drafts.

One thing I made sure was keeping his new fighting skills connected to the rest of his already existing character movements.

For instance, his right foot tended to hold up most of his weight. His angled gait in his lunges would similarily line up with his spinning slashes.

All of the animations were soon completed and were left up to the programmers to finish implimenting it into the game.

Oddly enough, this was the only game team that year where I didn't missed the group photo.

Although I don't have that specific photo with me in it, heheh.
