This game had several name changes throughout its development so during the first week of its release I had trouble remembering which was the official one, but I eventually got the hang of it. I really like the name 'Primal Knockout', it has a nice ring to it.
I joined this game team as a character animator. The rigging for the characters were already done and someone else was working on the special effects so I mostly focused on the character's fighting moves.
The main challenge for this project was how the fighting arena would get gradually smaller over time. It's a really cool mechanic but that also meant the character movements had to be made fairly tight. With the arena's collapse being different with each interation, it took lots of playtesting to make sure there wouldn't be any issues using the characters.
This was also the first game I worked on where you could use the keyboard/mouse or a game controller. I didn't do any of the programming for it but the idea of it lingered in the back of my mind for potential future projects.
